05/25/94 Version 1.06
- B-CRC will now always check for the existance of a ZIP file
passed on the command line. If your board was setup with
ARJ and you were using a converter to make a ZIP file, B-CRC's
command line would usually be filename.arj as this information
is passed by the BBS system as the uploaded file name. Now,
B-CRC will look for a filename.zip and process the zip file
for inclusion into the database if it exists in the called
path.
- There is now an option for removing the processing delays in
B-CRC. This is only valid in the REGISTERED version of the
utility. Starting B-CRC in your upload scanned batch file
with the following will cause the quick mode to be used.
B-CRC -Q %1
The -Q command line option causes all delays, except for the
minor initial screen delay to be suppressed. It is VERY fast,
so much so that your users might complain that they did not
'see anything' as the scanner whips by!
- PRESCANNED CD ROM databases are available after 6/14/94.
Registered Users can IMPORT and EXPORT CD ROM databases using the
B_CRCUT1.ZIP archive. Grab a copy of this file for instructions!
Individual CD ROM CRC databases will have the file name format
B_CRC000.ZIP format. You can now add CD ROM CRC data quickly
to your database. This increases your options for selectively
accepting files to your board. For Instance, if you do not want
older files from the Night Owl CD #8 uploaded to your board
you can obtain the CRC database of Night Owl, import it into
your database and STOP all uploads from this selection of files.
The same would be true of GIF files etc. More and More prescanned
CD ROM databases will be added in the future!
- Upgrade your copy of B-BUILD.EXE and B-CRC.EXE by copying the file
over your existing files.
10/18/93 Version 1.03
- Processing with B-BUILD now shows the compressed file per
second scanned.
- RIP screens will now be outputted to a RIP user. Local screens
will be displayed in ANSI.
- Now converts ZDCS databases to B-CRC Format. Check the new
option from the B-BUILD Menu! ( ALT R )
- B-BUILD now has it own internal file search. You can scan for
ANY filename within your database within ANY file processed
by the program. ( ALT R choice )
- Fossil support option added. Use the file B-CRCf.exe which is
just for Fossil based systems instead of the regular B-CRC.EXE.
This is a beta release, please report any problems with the
B-CRCf.exe file. Please COPY the file B-CRCf.exe to B-CRC.EXE
if using this FOSSIL Version so all the sample bat file, prompts,
and docs will not cause you any confusion.
- B-BUILD will now run without the key file but is limited to
200 zips in the database. This is just a quick 'show and tell'
before you obtain a demo key which unlocks the program for
an UNLIMITED full featured test.
- Some minor cfg problems with B-CRC were corrected. In some
instances the program may not have been able to 'find itself'
for verification purposes.
- Upgrade by copying B-CRC.EXE and B-BUILD.EXE over your existing
files.
- We should have updated docs for the next release with more details
on the new options. Note that the B-BUILD program has full help
prompts available during use. There is also a B-CRC conference on
THE SOLAR SYSTEM BBS at 714-837-9677 for ANY of your questions.
8/2/93 Version 1.01
- Added ability to make a badfiles.lst for WC! of the files contained in
the database. Check out the ALT R Create BadFiles.Lst option.
- Updated Com Routines
- Fixed some very minor bugs in B-BUILD involving file verification.
- Updated B-CRC so a RIP type DOOR.SYS will not error out the program.
- For those of you that asked, the file EXECDBX.ZIP is available on the
support board. It contains a list of COMMERCIAL CRC's that can be
easily imported into the database. This will help to STOP uploading
of known released copyrighted software to your board.
- To Upgrade simply replace the B-CRC.EXE and B-BUILD.EXE with your
existing files.
6/28/93 Version 1.00
- Many New Enhancements!
- Program will run on any DOOR.SYS based BBS System. After an upload
is completed, your BBS simply needs to shell and activate a batch
file to call the B-CRC program. DOOR.SYS needs to be available
to the program for processing.
- Commercial Software Databases can now be imported into the Database
to STOP copyrighted programs from being uploaded to your BBS.
- Record only mode - Once your database of BBS files is made your
can scan a CD ROM without the information being added to your
database. You can easily determine the amount of duplicates
on the CD ROM and ALSO compared to your database of files by
CRC! Find out if the CD ROM is a good addition to the files
on your board or NOT.
- PKZIP IMPLODED zips within a zip can now be processed into
the database.
- COMports and IRQ's 1 to 15 are now fully supported.
- Fully MENU DRIVEN program.
1/28/93 Version 0.92
- Fixed a miscalculation on the file byte percentages
- Changed output slightly on B-CRC program.
- Some activities were not being correctly recorded to the
B-CRC.LOG file.
- The doggone B-LOCK.$$$ problem is believe to be FINALLY fixed.
2 bugs cause this file to be left behind and the database locked
in a 'busy' state under certain circumstances.
- For your information, B-CRC will process the new PKZIP 2.04+ files
with no problems.
- Fixed some minor problems with scanning CD ROMS.
12/1/92 Version 0.91
- Command Line Option for adding files upon upload or adding
COMPLETE directories to the database is now available
in the B-BUILD program when UNREGISTERED for your
evaluation.
- Fixed bug with VERY large (2 screen pages) of ZIP comments
causing errors upon scanning.
- Adding 'wait for additional processing' note when B-CRC is
completed its dupe scanning. This will allow for the short
delay while the B-BUILD program adds the file to the database
upon upload.
- Fixed GIF uploads not showing database stats to user upon
file upload.
- Corrected some minor share violations that could occur upon
multiple accesses to the database.
- Eliminated problem with the BLOCK.$$$ Lock file being left
behind and locking the database when it was not necessary.
General Info:
My database now contains over 195,500 compressed files. The
program has worked flawlessly in STOPPING dupes to the support
board. Scanning is VERY QUICK and accurate! Call, send us a
file and watch B-CRC in action!
